Project methodology

The project methodology in this article is broken up into the following distinct phases: Distinct phases of IT Project Management This is a common breakdown of logical segments of any project, not just IT projects, and the idea is that progression from one phase to the next can only proceed once the milestones for the prior phase have been achieved. It is the Project Manager's responsibility to ensure that progress on each of the phases is reported regularly and deviation from plan are addressed in a controlled manner such that the planned milestones are achieved. The steering committee should be engaged as a guiding body in this regard and not just as a controlling one.
In the following pages, each of the project phases is described at a high-level with a few guidelines as to what to prepare for.
